Steven House, dean of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences
After living in New Jersey for the last 14 years, Steven and his wife,
Patricia, are excited about trying North Carolina foods. They've had
Cici's pizza and Lexington barbecue. The couple is always looking
for suggestions, but Steven says "I have yet to acquire a taste
for grits!"
Steven comes to Elon from Seton Hall University, where he was associate
dean of the college of arts and sciences and a biology professor.
He says he was attracted to Elon because of its commitment to creating
a model of academic excellence. "I am excited about Elon's passion
to form an educational model that promotes a relationship between
learning and experience, sense and sensibility, fact and value,"
he says.
He has received several large grants to research the role of blood
cells as a determinant of vascular function in health and disease.
In his free time, Steven plays tennis, racquetball and golf.
When you visit Steven's office, you'll find that he is always listening

to Elon.

gratifying life experience. Be sure to look for Robin in the stands
of Rhodes Stadium this football season; she'll be there cheering on
her son, Patrick, who is a sophomore wide receiver for the Phoenix.
