Facts and figures
In meeting the goals of NewCentury@Elon, the University confronts
a limitation of resources and finds itself at a strategic crossroads.
Simply put, Elon is too dependent on enrollment growth and tuition
increases. To preserve what is best about the University, we must
find other sources of revenue. Much of what has been accomplished
over the past decade has been fueled by growing enrollment and the
ability to raise tuition to meet the increasing demand for quality.
Elon now faces the serious question of future enrollment size. Many
members of the community worry that a larger Elon would become very
different, losing its strong sense of community. Facing limits on
future tuition growth, Elon must find new sources of support. Past
campaigns have focused on raising funds for facilities. NewCentury@Elon
will broaden fund-raising efforts, with more emphasis on annual giving
and building the endowment.
