Fraternity, sorority team up for disaster relief An Elon fraternity and sorority raised more than $5,000 to help victims of last week's terrorist attacks.

Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority raised $5,110 during a fundraising campaign held Sept. 12-14. The money will be donated to the Burlington chapter of the American Red Cross and will be directed toward relief efforts in New York and Washington.

Lambda Chi Alpha president Bo Hamrick reported several individual donations in excess of $200. "I thought $1,000 would be a huge success," said Hamrick. "I was amazed when we raised that amount in the first day alone."

"This is a true sign of what the students of Elon can do when we work together for a common goal," said Sigma Sigma Sigma president Kristen Wiley.
