If interested in participating in our community through service opportunities, there are several organizations that serve our local community in significant ways. Elon’s Campus Kitchen is a great place to start. Launched in February 2011, Campus Kitchen at Elon is an on-site service opportunity in which volunteers package leftover food in university dining halls and deliver them to Allied Churches of Alamance County.
Just a short drive from campus, the Allied Churches is a common volunteer stop for Elon students and community members. It serves the county’s homeless through its emergency shelter, kitchen and resource center, and volunteers are always welcome.
Focused on meeting needs related to education, employment and health, the United Way of Alamance County is a non-profit that connects volunteers with partner organizations.
Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County is also active in the area and in need of volunteers to help with housing projects.
If in search of volunteer opportunities specifically for teens, Alamance Teens Volunteer Opps in Alamance County is a network in which individuals can post or search for service opportunities for teens in the area.
