Blended Model with Global Experience

Take the majority of your classes over three summers and complete the remaining courses online during the intervening school year. In the third summer, students spend a week in Costa Rica at no added cost. You’ll study curriculum and culture at a local school as you research answers to an inquiry question.

The program is offered at a substantially reduced cost, which is fixed at the beginning of your first summer session. National Board Certification

Elon’s M.Ed. program provides support and offers preparation for students interested in obtaining National Board Certification. The program’s capstone project can be used in the National Board Certification application and Elon M.Ed. faculty will guide students throughout the process.

Alumni Success

In 2012, three Elon M.Ed. alumnae were recognized as leaders in their profession. Tyronna Hooker ’09 was honored as the North Carolina Teacher of the Year, Kim Mellor ’04 was honored as the Teacher of the Year Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Molly Ellington ’08 was honored as the Teacher of the Year Alamance Burlington. Elon M.Ed. graduates boast a 100 percent pass rate on advanced licensure exams and excellence in teaching.

Faculty Mentors

Professor Glenda Crawford was named North Carolina Professor of the Year, 2011. Elon’s M.Ed. faculty members have a stellar reputation as both accessible mentors and active scholars. “Here at Elon I’ve really had the opportunity to live my beliefs … and I’ve had the opportunity to see the fruits of living those beliefs,” Crawford said.
