Interactive Faculty

Whether you're on campus or working at home, your professors are available to answer questions and offer support.

Jean Rattigan-Rohr, assistant professor of education, worked with M.Ed. students on research examining the effects of a home-university tutoring program on struggling readers’ grades. The students wrote reviews, observed undergraduate students as they tutored struggling readers and worked with readers' parents.

Alumni Success

Elon M.Ed. graduates have a 100 percent pass rate on advanced licensure exams.

“My Elon M.Ed. showed me the big picture. It provided an opportunity to work across content areas and eventually go into administration. Now, instead of relying on the knowledge of others, I’m the expert.”

Tyronna Hooker ’09, 2010 Alamance-Burlington Teacher of the Year

Community of Learners

Elon keeps classes small (average size is 15) to encourage close collaboration.

Marty Erskine became a teacher after 20 years in the corporate world. His wife, Marsha, was in Elon’s second M.Ed. cohort. Marty and Clark, the couple’s son, entered the program in June 2009. “I knew that I wanted what Marsha took to her classroom each day. I knew that I needed what Elon had to offer,” Marty says.

Learn From Your Peers

Elon's central location draws students from both the Triangle, Triad and beyond. You'll network with other teachers from school systems across a major section of North Carolina. Small group work and class discussions are designed to help you learn from other students.

After you gradaute, you'll join an expansive alumni network that extends across the state and offers support and guidance whenever you need it.
