Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get from the airport to campus?
Visit our travel
page for directions, maps and transportation information.
When does the conference begin and end?
The ANAC Summer Institute begins Wednesday,
June 13 and ends Friday, June 15. Early arrivals are welcome.
What if I want to come to Elon on Tuesday?
We welcome early arrivals and will make every
effort to accommodate your housing and food needs. Please
notify us if you plan to arrive for Tuesday evening. We will
send you special check-in instructions. Participants arriving
prior to 5 p.m. on Tuesday have the option of attending a
minor league baseball game at a nearby stadium. Note:
baseball activity is not covered by ANAC registration fee.
Where is summer institute check-in and
registration?
Registration for all participants will be in the
Oaks Common Area (Building #27 on the campus
map). See
registration information for times the registration desk
is open.
What will parking be like on campus?
Parking during the summer at Elon is easy! No
special stickers are required, and most lots have adequate
parking close to residence halls and meeting spaces. You will
be provided with a campus map with parking recommendations
when you arrive. Elon’s campus has been designated a
national botanical garden, so we suspect you’ll prefer
to walk rather than drive to ANAC events.
Where on campus will participants be housed?
ANAC participants will be housed in several
residence halls throughout campus. You may locate them on the
Elon campus map by the building numbers:
A) The Oaks (Building #38)
B) Academic Village Residences
(Buildings #11 and 13)
C) The Danieley Center (Buildings
#45)
All sleeping rooms are singles. Rooms in suite arrangements
may share a common meeting area. Rooms have private or
semi-private baths.
Where on campus will we be meeting?
Reference Elon’s campus map:
• Conference sessions will be held in Elon’s new
Koury Business Center. (Building #19)
• Most meals will be held in McKinnon Hall, which is in
Moseley Center (Building #23).
• The Thursday evening performance by John McCutcheon
will be in the Center for the Arts (Building #10)
What will be provided in our rooms?
Rooms contain single beds and dressers. Elon will
provide hangers, bed linens and a towel. Individual rooms are
not equipped with alarm clocks or desk lamps. Televisions
will be available in selected common areas.
What if I forget to bring toiletries?
Elon will stock basic toiletries (shampoo, soap,
toothpaste, disposable razors, etc.) to help ease your trip
through airport security.
What if I need to make photocopies?
Small quantities of photocopies can be made in
Elon’s Belk Library. Larger quantities (50+) will be
sent to Elon’s Print Services. Ask an Elon
representative (or a person at registration) to assist you.
Will computer access be available?
Computer access is available in many buildings on
campus, including Belk Library and the Koury Business Center.
Most buildings on Elon’s campus are wireless. Elon will
provide a computer help-desk service for all participants to
make sure you can get connected as you arrive on campus.
How will I get the technology I need for my
presentation at ANAC?
ANAC plenary sessions and concurrent sessions will be held
in the Koury Business Center. Every room in that building is
equipped with the following:

computer/laptop

system with microphones available)
Additional
technology is available through Elon at no charge to ANAC
presenters. Please contact Barbara Guy to request
technology not already available in the Koury Business Center
or to request any equipment for presentations in McKinnon
Hall in the Moseley Center. Technical assistance will be
available throughout the conference (June 13-15).
What if people need to reach me while I’m at
Elon?
While individual cell phones make access much
easier than in the past, occasionally there are emergencies
where people want to talk to someone on campus about reaching
you. Below are numbers that can be used in emergencies:
Campus Safety and Security:
336-278-5555 (24 hours)
Elon Switchboard: 336- 278-2000
How should I dress for the various events?
Business casual is acceptable for daytime meetings
and the evening events. The summer institute is a relaxed,
informal gathering. Participants are encouraged to wear
comfortable shoes for walking around campus. All buildings
are air conditioned.
What is the weather in North Carolina in June?
The average mean temperature for June 13 is 76
degrees, although this can vary by +/- 10 degrees. Because
evening temperatures will be lower, we recommend you bring a
sweater.

areas. The map you receive at check-in will identify
locations where you may access television.
