How to Prepare & What to Expect

Step 1: Research
Conduct research on the companies that you’re most interested in approaching prior to the Meet and Greet. This research can include: company history, open positions, recent announcements, and industry news.

Step 2: Practice
Prepare and practice a 30-second commercial to the employer. State who you are, your major, why you are interested in the company and what you can bring to the company.

Step 3: Update Your Resume
Set up an appointment with the Porter Family Professional Development Center, or stop by during drop-in hours to have your resume reviewed. Be sure to bring copies of your resume with you to the Meet and Greet.

Step 4: Dress to Impress
Dress professionally. Wear the same attire that you would for an interview.

Step 5: Attend the Meet and Greet
Be confident and prepared when you approach company representatives. Shake hands, look the representative in the eye and introduce yourself utilizing your 30-second commercial. Smile and make sure not to cover your nametag with your hair, folder or bag. Be yourself! Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Step 6: Follow Up
Ask representatives how they would like you to follow up. Be sure to do what they ask you to do.
