About the Instructors

Robert H. Moorman, Ph.D., is the Frank S. Holt Jr. Professor of Business Leadership at the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University.  Before coming to Elon, Moorman was the Robert Daugherty Chair in Management at Creighton University.  At Elon, he teaches management and leadership courses and publishes scholarship on a range of topics exploring leadership development and workplace engagement.  He has taught executive leadership courses for numerous companies including Syngenta, Union Pacific, Peter Kiewit and Sons, and for executive programs at the University of Otago in New Zealand.  In honor of his teaching, research, and service performance, Moorman was twice awarded the Dean’s Award for Excellence at Creighton University and the Cahill Award recognizing meritorious service.  Moorman received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Indiana University in 1990.

Kevin J. O’Mara, Ph.D., is a professor of management in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University. He teaches at the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive Education levels with primary teaching responsibilities in the strategy and innovation fields. He is a recipient of the LSB Dean’s Teaching, LSB Dean’s Service and the LSB Dean’s Research awards.  He has led study abroad courses to London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, and the Cayman Islands. During his tenure as Director of the Elon MBA, the program received its initial AACSB accreditation, was ranked #1 and #4 overall by EBI, and cited by the Princeton Review as “The Best Administered MBA Program”.  Prior to entering academia, he was a strategic analyst for a Fortune 100 oil exploration company in Houston.  He holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, serves on multiple boards, and is the current President of the Academy of Business Education.  

Matthew Valle, Ph.D., CAPM, PMP, is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a former Air Force pilot. He received an M.S. in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas, an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Florida State University. Valle is an award-winning teacher-scholar and has published over 70 articles in journals such as the Journal of Managerial Issues, the Journal of Management Inquiry and the Journal of Small Business Strategy. He has consulted with Boeing, Raytheon, Bombardier Aerospace/Learjet, Gates Rubber Co. and Conagra, among others. Valle has served as a team member and project lead on several high-value DOD acquisition and program upgrade projects. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and maintains a certification as an associate in project management (CAPM®).
