Welcome back to the United States from an exciting semester
abroad! Now that you are back from studying abroad, do you
find yourself talking about your experience all the time? The
Isabella Cannon Centre for International Studies (ICCIS) has
the perfect opportunity for you. We have started a new
program called the Study Abroad Student Ambassador (S.A.S.A.)
Program. This program utilizes your study abroad
experience and enthusiasm to tell other Elon students about
studying abroad.
Who is a Study Abroad Student
Ambassador?
YOU! Any student who has participated in an Elon Study
Abroad Program can apply!
What does a Study Abroad Student Ambassador
do?
A S.A.S.A. is an ICCIS student representative who is trained
to speak about study abroad and share your personal
experience with Elon 101 classes, admission events, study
abroad fairs, orientations and one-on-one conversations with
Elon students. The time commitment will be between 10 to 15
hours per semester.
Will I be trained?
If you are selected as a S.A.S.A. the ICCIS staff will
provide you with the training related to the content of the
presentations and general Elon study abroad
information. You will also receive practice time and
feedback on effective public speaking by the ICCIS
staff.
How long is my commitment?
This is a one year commitment with the majority of the
training and presentations taking place during the Fall
semester.
How can I apply?
An application and essay prompt is attached. Applications
must be received by May 1, 2008 for the
2008-2009 academic year. We will begin application
review at the end of May, and will send out notifications the
second week in June. You can hand in your application
to Carlton 113 or email your application to
studyabroad@elon.edu.
