Elon in New York City is a nine-week opportunity for students to intern and study in the Big Apple. The program accepts up to 30 students and is open to all majors. Students will earn six hours of credit while onsite in New York City. Four of those credits can count toward students' upper level GST requirement or toward an upper level COM elective. In the summer of 2013, the program will run from June 1 to Aug. 3.
Opportunities for internships exist across broad areas, including, but not limited to, companies and businesses that support all aspects of the arts, such as casting, marketing, public relations, advertising, investments, banking, as well as news and entertainment journalism. We have contacts from decades of successful internship experiences. Hundreds of alumni and Elon parents in Manhattan will mentor students enrolled in the program and provide critical networking and professional advice.
Students enroll in an exciting 4-hour course: The Streets of NYC. The class engages students to consider the historical, cultural, economic and social impact of New York City through an experiential educational experience. Faculty and staff members from across campus will instruct the course, take students on behind the scenes tours and experience the streets of New York City.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE ELON IN NYC PROGRAM FOR 2013 ARE NOW CLOSED. Applications for Summer 2014 will open in mid-September.
