Sunshine Day 2014 at Elon

Please join us in celebrating Sunshine Day from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2013 in Lakeside Hall at the Moseley Center on the Elon University campus. This event is sponsored by the Sunshine Center of the North Carolina Open Government Coalition. 

Speakers include veteran journalists and government officials from North Carolina and numerous experts and advocates for open government. We encourage citizens, journalists, government employees, librarians, attorneys, public officals, students and anyone interested in open government to attend.

Getting here:

From Raleigh/Durham: Take Exit 141 of I-40/85 for Huffman Mill Road and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Make an immediate left at the first light for Garden Road. At the third light, make a right onto St. Mark's Church Road. This will become Williamson Avenue in Elon. After you reach campus and cross Haggard Avenue, turn left onto Elon Commons Drive parking is available in the adjacent parking lot at The Oaks residence halls. Additional parking is available at the Moseley Center 

From Greensboro/Charlotte: Take Exit 140 of I-40/85 for University Drive and turn left at the end of the ramp. Turn right onto N. Williamson Drive/Shallowford Church Road. Turn right onto Elon Commons Drive parking is available in the adjacent parking lot at The Oaks residence halls. Additional parking is available at the Moseley Center

Parking: Visitor parking is available at The Oaks residence halls (use Elon Commons Drive, Elon in your GPS) and at The Moseley Center (use 399 N O’Kelly Avenue, Elon in your GPS).  There is also parking available at the Elon Community Church (271 N. Williamson Ave.,) if both of those lots are full. 

Lakeside Hall: Lakeside Hall is located inside the Moseley Center. From The Oaks parking lot, you will walk across Williamson Avenue and between the Center for the Arts and the Koury Center. Lakeside Hall will be the first entrance to the Moseley Center on your left. From the Moseley Center parking lot you will walk to the opposite end of the Moseley Center from the parking lot. The conference rooms are on the second floor of Lakeside Hall. There is a staircase adjacent to the entrance to the Lakeside Dining Hall. A campus map is here

Registration is open to the general public. The Sunshine Center offers a discounted rate to students of $18. Elon students may attend free of charge, but will need to register and pay $10 if they would like the lunch.

The Sunshine Center also offers a discounted membership rate available with registration for an additional $10. The regular membership price is $25.
