Ryan Keur

Company: Burlington Royals, Rookie Affiliate of KC Royals

Title: Assistant General Manager

"I knew I always wanted to work in baseball, but I didn't quite know how I was going to make that happen. The professors in the SEM Department gave me a guiding hand to pursuing my dreams and aspirations to work in minor league baseball.  They prepared me for the world of sports and event, and now I'm busy throwing a 'party' every game we have."

Josh Pfeiffer

Company: The Charlotte Bobcats

Title: Group Sales Executive

"The SEM department was tremendously influential in my decision to pursue a career in professional sports, and was the primary reason I attended Elon.  The classes went in depth with faculty who have years of experience in their field, and I received excellent opportunities to plan, volunteer and work various sport and recreation events in the area.  Because of the faculty here, I was able to land amazing internships in the NFL and my current full-time position in the NBA.  If you want to work in any sport or event planning field, this is the best path to take and I would recommend it to anyone."

Jaclyn Garris

Company: PGA Tour

Title: Tournament Standards Assistant

"The SEM department, or rather LSM from my day, allowed me to learn about and explore the multiple components that comprises the Sport and Entertainment industry. I was able to learn first hand how to run an event, develop a marketing plan, research journals and scholar literature, and start to understand the complexity of our legal system and the role it plays in every sport organization. By attending sport business conferences, working with my fellow students, and interning at the Boston Celtics, I was exposed to new ideas, thoughts, and processes which provided me a strong foundation for entering the professional world whether it was completing my MBA and Master's in Sport Administration while also working at the ANNIKA Foundation or in my current role at the PGA TOUR.
