Dr. Calhoun has varied teaching and research interests that focus on human behaviors and motivation in the realm of personal health. As an instructor of human sexuality and related courses for over two decades, he is currently writing a book that examines dysfunctional attitudes and high risk behaviors of males.

Professor Bailey teaches Contemporary Wellness Issues and several General Studies courses. As coordinator of the "Girls in Motion" program on campus, her primary reasearch interests include the effect of education and exercise programming on behavior, weight and body image in young girls. Professor Bailey has a further interest in investigating the role of mentors and parents on the success of such programming.

Professor Hendrick has extensive expereince teaching Physical Education and Health in the K-12 public schools as well as at the university level. He has also taugh alcohol and drug prevention strategies and various public health courses at the university level. Professor Hendrick's areas of expertise and current teaching include substance use and abuse, teaching methodolgoy, sport skill aquisition and lifestyle choices.

Professor Storsved has nine years of experience as a public school teacher and coach. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist that teaches a variety of courses in both the PEH and HED programs. Her interest include the development and maintenance of students full wellness: body, mind and spirit.

Dr. Stringer has extensive local, national, and international experience teaching K-12 physical education and health. She teaches courses related to secondary pedagogy and foundations of health and physical education. Her research interests include contextual factors surrounding K-12 physical education and teacher performance.

Professor Tapler currently teaches Contemporary Wellness Issues, Human Sexuality, and Introduction to Public Health courses. Professor Tapler is the Coordinator for the interdisciplinary Public Health Studies minor and is the advisor for the Health and Wellness Learning Community. Tapler provides an outreach program for mothers and their daughters called “Growing Up and Liking It” through the Women’s Resource Center in Alamance County.

Professor Walch coordinates delivery of the required wellness class to more than 1,400 students annually. Additionally, as Faculty Fellow for Substance Education, she provides leadership for campus-wide alcohol initiatives and serves on the Presidential Task Force on Alcohol. Her research interests include alcohol issues on college campuses and health behaviors of first-year students.
