ABOUT
LEISURE AND SPORT MANAGEMENT...
In today's global society,
juggling work and family responsibilities makes leisure
choices in recreation and sport more important than
ever.
Elon's Leisure and Sport Management (LSM) program is
preparing students to meet the demands of this growing
industry, thus enhancing quality of life for
everyone.

LSM majors develop
skills for rewarding management careers in sport,
facilities, public recreation, cultural and performing
arts, and tourism.
LSM students learn about the role of leisure and sport
management in society, fundamentals of facility planning,
and the principles of special event programming and
marketing. Professors are very accessible, get to know
students personally and help them benefit from their
years of experience in the field.
All LSM majors complete at least one internship in
addition to a variety of practical activities related to
the academic study of leisure and sport. These
experiences reinforce what is learned in the classroom
and provide valuable networking opportunities in the
industry. Examples of recent internships include ESPN,
Atlanta Braves, Wild Dunes Resort, Madison Square Garden
and various areas of intercollegiate athletics.
After graduation, Leisure and Sport Management majors
obtain careers in a variety of settings, such as public
parks and recreation departments, sport organizations,
resorts and hotels, youth agencies, private clubs and
athletic administration. Others go on to graduate school
in assorted academic specializations.
