Prior to college teaching, he worked with the Tennessee Division of State Parks and attained the position of assistant director of state parks.

Practical experiences as a director of athletics, coach, consultant and administrator have honed his skills for effective and practical advisement and instruction of students. He presents frequently at a variety of regional, national and international conferences, along with active engagement in research and writing. He also serves on various editorial, review and advisory boards related to the LSM industry.
Dr. Anne Marx - Assistant Professor Powell Building 223 D 2350 Campus Box Elon, NC 27244 Phone: (336) 278-5803 amarx@elon.edu Dr. Anne Marx has practical experience in collegiate and secondary education athletic departments, outdoor schools and state parks, and as a camp director. Her research focus is on recreation and sport as a platform for socio-cultural change with specific interests in ethics, law and gender issues. She has presented at national and international conferences.
Dr. Tony Weaver - Assistant Professor Powell Building 223 B 2350 Campus Box Elon, NC 27244 Phone: (336) 278-5844 tweaver@elon.edu Dr. Tony Weaver worked as a Division I athletic administrator, college and high school coach, and gained practical experience in financial organizations before coming to Elon University. These experiences, as well as his work as a college instructor, have helped strengthen his teaching skills and shape his research interests. He serves as a member of several regional and national organizations and is actively involved in research related to intercollegiate athletics.
Harold Owen - Adjunct Instructor Powell Building 223 2350 Campus Box Elon, NC 27244 Phone: (336) 278-5903 howen@elon.edu Mr. Owen is currently the city manager for Burlington, North Carolina and brings a wealth of real world experience to his teaching. He has been an adjunct instructor at the University for several years, and currently teaches the 400-level LSM course entitled "Governance and Policy Development".

Mr. Roupas is an attorney in his own general law practice in Greensboro. His practice includes family law, general civil litigation, wills/trusts, and criminal law, among others. His practice geographical area includes Guilford, Alamance, Randolph, Forsyth, and Rockingham counties. He also has over 10 years of business experience in general management and sales/marketing in the malt beverage industry.
