Clinical Experiences: Information for Clinical Teachers

Early Clinical Experiences and Dispositions Documents

School-based clinical experiences for Elon teacher candidates begin in EDU 211: School and Society or for students planning to teach high school, SOC 243: Sociology of Education. Clinical experiences continue throughout a candidate's participation in EDU and other teacher licensure courses. 

  • Early Clinical Experiences Handbook (pdf) - spells out expectations for students/teacher candidate, their university supervisors, and you as their hosts and mentors during these clinical experiences. The student/teacher candidate must submit an electronic signature indicating understanding of and agreement with the guidelines in the handbook prior to beginning the first clinical experience.

Student Teaching - Handbook and Assessment Documents

Student teaching is the culminating clinical experience in teacher licensure programs. 

  • Student Teaching Handbook (pdf) - outlines expectations for student teachers, their university supervisors, and you as their hosts and mentors during their student teaching semester. The student teacher must submit an electronic signature indicating understanding of and agreement with the guidelines in the handbook before beginning student teaching.
