As you may have heard, all teacher education programs in the state of North Carolina have been revised to meet the new North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards. The teacher education faculty at Elon spent more than a year reviewing current programs and revising them in order to bring them in line with these standards and the 21st century knowledge and skills embedded in them. We also wanted to make changes that we believed would improve our programs, enabling you as teacher candidates to better meet the needs of students in your future classrooms. All proposed changes have now been approved by the NC Department of Public Instruction and the faculty of Elon University and are effective Fall 2010.
