Elon's licensure program in middle grades education prepares candidates to teach in grades 6-9. Candidates majoring in middle grades education select and take courses in at least one subject area concentration chosen from Communication Skills, Social Studies, Math, or Science and also complete professional education courses.
Students planning to graduate in May 2012 or later will follow a course of study based on a newly revisioned program instead of the one listed in the 2008 or 2009 academic catalog. Students should consult their academic advisors for assistance in making the transition to the new graduation requirements.
Academic Advising provides checksheets of degree requirements. The 2008 and 2009 checksheets with a ^ notation indicate they were updated in March of 2010 to reflect the new requirements;; these updated checksheets should be used in place of previous versions for students graduating May 2012 or later. You can also find additional tools and assistance by visiting the School of Education wiki space.
