Welcome to the "It Takes a Village" Project at Elon University. It is a great honor for us to be of service to our community. Here at Elon’s School of Education, service to our community is integral to our work with students, parents and public schools. I would like to thank our many community partners who are working with us in this effort to improve the critical literacy skills of many of our area students who are struggling in schools. We are very encouraged by the improvements we see in our students’ literacy skills, and we long for the day when the term “struggling readers” no longer applies to the children in the “Village.” Our dedicated partners who make this work possible include: The May Memorial Library, Burlington, N.C.; First Presbyterian Church, Burlington, N.C.; The Oak Foundation; students; teachers; parents; Barnes & Noble (Alamance Crossing); and our university partners, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and Concordia University in Portland, Ore.
