The Elon University Forest supports a variety of missions:

• It represents values that Elon holds sacred including community, stewardship and global awareness.
• It creates an invaluable teaching resource that may be used by the entire university.
• It safeguards representative upland and lowland Piedmont forest ecosystems containing thousands of species.
• It advances Elon toward becoming a national leader in environmental stewardship.
• It preserves the largest remaining intact forest within walking distance of campus and the last within the Town of Elon.
• It creates a valuable spiritual and psychological resource.
• It creates a wealth of research opportunities for Elon students and faculty.
