The NCCTM Club (North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics) merged with the Student NC Association of Educators Club (SNCAE) and was renamed the Future Educators Club. The club meets at least once a month to share information and to support students who are planning to become teachers after graduation. It provides financial support for students to attend the NCCTM conference in Greensboro in the fall and the SNCAE conference in the spring. For more information about the organization and meeting times, contact the faculty advisor, Jennifer Fish, at 336-278-5888 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Statistics Club was established in 2015 in anticipation of evolving into Mu Sigma Rho, the statistics honor society. The club members will be contacting local alumni who are in graduate school or in industry to speak at their meetings. They are planning field trips to local statistics-related businesses, such as SAS, to learn about opportunities in the statistics field. The club members participate in department activities and promote awareness of the club by wearing Statistics Club T-shirts and buttons. In spring 2016, the club will submit an application to establish Mu Sigma Rho at Elon. For more information about the organization and meeting times, contact the faculty advisor, Dr. Laura Taylor, 336-278-6493.
