Career Opportunities

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook (2008)* it is predicted that demand for individuals with a background in statistics will grow 9 percent from 2006 to 2016. In the fall of 2009, the American Statistical Association highlighted that Statistics was listed in SmartMoney’s article entitled “Five College Majors That Can Help You Get a Job” (Andriotis, 2009)**. It is noted that “Statistics majors tend to be highly sought-after graduates and are often hired into lucrative positions straight out of college” (p. 2). Thus the professional potential for students majoring in statistics is great!
