Faculty Cherie Bower is the director for the fall dance concerts, teaches all levels of ballet/pointe, dance technique for men, choreography I and choreographs for department productions. Ms. Bower holds a B.F.A from the North Carolina School of the Arts and an M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Bower worked extensively with Agnes de Mille as a member of the Agnes de Mille Heritage Dance Theater and in the Broadway revival of Brigadoon. Additional NYC performing credits include Eternal Love (Off Broadway) choreographed by Miguel Godreau and productions directed by Ron Forella. In New York City, she joined the teaching staff of the Finis Jhung Studio, Broadway Dance Center, and taught ballet full-time as an assistant professor of dance at Marymount Manhattan College. Since returning to North Carolina, she has served as artistic director/choreographer for two studios, taught ballet for the North Carolina Dance Alliance, American College Dance Festival Association, and performed for the North Carolina Dance Festival. Her local academic teaching and choreographic credits include the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Greensboro College, and Elon University. |
