Faculty

Bill Webb is the lighting designer/technical director for the Performing Arts Department at Elon University.

Bill was born and raised in Alfred, N.Y., where he received his BA in performing arts from Alfred University in May 1988. After three years as a professional theatrical designer/technician, Bill entered graduate school 1991. In 1994, he earned his MFA in technical direction from The North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C. Prior to employment at Elon University, Bill was an instructor at High Point University from 1994-1996.

In addition to his academic experience, Bill has maintained an active professional life within the entertainment industry. He is a member if I.A.T.S.E. local 635 Winston-Salem, serves on the board of directors for Entertainment Labor Services, and is a member of USITT and SETC.

Bill's professional highlights include:

• Traveling throughout the United States installing large-scale corporate scenery for All Staging Unlimited of Orlando, Fla.

• Acting as production manager for The North Carolina School of the Arts illuminations summer arts series in Manteo, N.C.

• Serving as an audio engineer for events such as the NCAA men's basketball tournament and Wake Forest University's men's basketball team at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem.

• Acting as a steward and stage hand for numerous live events under the jurisdiction of I.A.T.S.E. local 635, such as Garth Brooks, Tina Turner, R.E.M. and the Eagles in concert.
