My academic interests include visual, haptic (touch), and auditory perception, human factors psychology as it relates to product design and evaluation of assistive technologies for individuals with visual impairment, and research methods and statistics. Specifically, I study the similarities and differences between human visual and haptic perception, and I conduct research which explores the challenges faced by blind and low-vision pedestrians/travelers and evaluates technologies designed to minimize obstacles and remove barriers to their independent travel.
