Elon's Summer Cohort Program offers experienced teachers
the opportunity to earn a Master of Education degree, and
Advanced Licensure, in a three-summer course of study.
Students take the majority of their coursework during the
summer sessions and the remainder online during the two
intervening academic years. Degree specialty areas include
elementary education, gifted education and special
education. Elementary Education is a 33-hour program; Gifted
Education is a 33-hour program; Special Education is a
36-hour program.
Each M.Ed. student is assigned to a faculty advisor, who
works closely with students as they advance through the
program. Advisors also guide students as they conduct their
action-based research projects and develop their graduate
portfolios.
Campus facilities are available to all students during the
summer, including the library, the writing center, the pool
and the gymnasium. Students who live a distance away from
Elon may elect to live on campus in one of Elon's student
housing facilities.
