MBA Faculty JoAnn Buck receives award for teaching excellence

JoAnn Buck, who teaches MBA 510 “Enhancing Leadership Effectiveness,” received the “Excellence in Teaching” Award for her work at Guilford Technical Community College last week. The award recognizes innovative teaching approaches, professional service and contributions, professional development, and positive student evaluations of instruction.

In presenting the award, Vice President of Instruction John Chapin showed a brief video of JoAnn teaching and read several comments from her students, including the following:

• Dr. Buck ...helps people learn with a passion and interest in everything she does. Never a dull moment. She cares and shows she wants to be here and help students learn.
• She is the best hyper-active English teacher in the whole department.
• She is great with explaining and helping with assignments.
• Extremely funny which motivates me to come to class.
• Thank you, Dr. Buck, for helping me face my fear of oral presentation.

JoAnn is the Department Chair for English and Humanities at Guilford Technical Community College and an adjunct professor of business administration in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.
