Elon Center Faculty Information
Elon has four Center Abroad programs where we partner with local organizations to develop and implement a customized program for Elon students. These organizations secure the housing, contract the facilities for classes, and hire local faculty members. Elon sends an experienced faculty member to serve as the faculty in residence. The faculty in residence typically teaches an Interdisciplinary Core Capstone Seminar and local faculty members teach the other courses. Students on the Elon Center programs come from all majors and degree programs, with the exception of the Shanghai program which is specifically for students in the Love School of Business (LSB).
Currently, Elon has the following Center programs:

At this time, the GEC is not accepting applications for the San Jose, Costa Rica Center or the Shanghai, China Center. As the Shanghai program is specific to the LSB, faculty in residence selection is handled by the LSB.
Process for Faculty Selection for Elon Centers

- Applications for faculty in residence at an Elon Center should be submitted to the GEC and will be reviewed and approved by the Advisory Committee for the GEC.
Applications are reviewed in March of each year. A facstaff e-mail announcing the application period will be sent each January, and applications are due at the end of February.
Eligibility Requirements and Helpful notes
To have the best chance of success, your application for to serve as faculty in residence should be submitted five years in advance of the term you would like to serve. Unusual circumstances may allow applications to be accepted less than five years in advance but applications will not be accepted less than 18 months in advance. Part of this time will be required to prepare and seek approval of your Interdisciplinary Core Capstone Seminar. Applicants should have achieved post-probationary status, or equivalent for non-tenure track positions at the time of application.
Applicants should have experience teaching on an Elon Winter Term Study Abroad Program, or equivalent experience working with Elon students in a similar setting away from campus prior to applying.
A faculty member may not serve as faculty in residence at the same site twice.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not yet served as Faculty in Residence at an Elon Center.
There is a minimum five (5) year duration between periods of service as Faculty in Residence at Elon Centers.
Faculty members are eligible only once for each site, but can serve at more than one site.
