Peace Corps

  • Beth Roberts ('08) studied abroad in Italy for a semester and now writes about her experiences as a Peace Corp volunteer in Mali.
  • Amanda Stamplis ('10) studied abroad in Costa Rica for a semester and completed language study in Guatemala.  She now writes about her experiences as a Peace Corp volunteer in Western China.
  • Bonnie Harvey ('09) studied abroad in South Africa for a semester and Ghana for a winter term.  She now writes about her experiences as a Peace Corp volunteer in Malawi.

Teaching Abroad

  • Sara Riek ('10) studied abroad in London for a semester and cataloged her experiences as an English teacher at a university in Ecuador.
  • April Kirby ('10) studied abroad in London for a semester and after graduation she taught abroad in American Samoa.
  • Kelly Doran ('10) studied abroad in London for a semester and fter graduation she taught abroad in Spain.
  • Kristen Allen ('11) taught abroad in South Korea after her Indepedent Elon Program Abroad in Jordan.
  • Kaela Conroy ('10) taught abroad in Spain after her study abroad experiences in Spain and Costa Rica.
  • Renee Zale ('11) studied abroad in Chile for two semesters and now teaches with Fundacion Juventas, an NGO based in Tunja, Colombia.

Working Abroad

Research/Fellowship Abroad

  • Christopher Jarrett ('11) who studied and researched in Ecuador while at Elon, was awarded a Fulbright award to continue research in Ecuador.  Read about his experience through his blog and website.

Graduate School Abroad

  • Lauren Taylor (’10) who studied abroad in the UK and conducted research in Costa Rica, South Africa, and Honduras, recently completed her Masters in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  After her masters she completed a one year internship/work placement in the UK.
