Margaret Kantlehner, associate dean for
external relations, has been appointed to a statewide
presidential task force for the North Carolina Bar
Association's 4ALL campaign. Kantlehner was appointed by
Janet Ward Black, NCBA president.
Kantlehner will serve on the Loan Repayment
Assistance Program (LRAP) working group on the task force.
The working group will make recommendations to the
NCBA Board of Governors next year on ways to help Legal
Aid of North Carolina retain lawyers by eliminating or
significantly reducing law school debt.
The 4ALL campaign is designed to
make legal services available to North Carolinians who are at
or below the poverty line. The five-pronged effort includes
educating lawyers about poverty in the state; raising
awareness among legislators about the need for legal services
for poor residents; a fundraising effort among
NCBA members; a pro bono legal services day, set for
April 4, 2008; and the LRAP effort to retain lawyers by
reducing law school debt.
