Engaged minds. Inspired leaders. Global citizens.

During the 2010-11 academic year, faculty and students of Elon University turned the words of our strategic plan, the Elon Commitment, into actions. They tackled difficult problems facing humanity with intellectual discipline and an eye toward making a real impact on our future.

Scholarship at the university this year was diverse and exciting. Elon scholars developed a vision for the future of the Internet, sought new treatments for heart disease, studied strategies to help struggling readers and examined the effects of development on the environment. This impressive work enriched Elon’s classroom experiences and engaged all of us in imagining ways to make a difference in the world.

This report contains a recap of Elon’s 2010-11 milestones, including the creation of the School of Health Sciences and a master’s program in physician assistant studies, major progress on a multi-year building plan that will transform the university’s residential experience, opening of the new Alumni Field House and growing success for Phoenix athletics, and an engaging spring convocation moderated by NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams.

I invite you to browse this multimedia report to find out more about these accomplishments and to discover why Elon is consistently rated one of the nation’s top universities for engaged learning.
