Application Process

The application process opens October 19, 2011 through March 1, 2012 for first-year students. There are three components to the application: a letter of recommendation from a faculty person, a letter of application, and an interview with the Class Mentor. Applicants are notified of their acceptance prior to preregistration for Fall semester.

The letter of applications should include the following:

1.   A brief statement describing why you are interested in becoming a Periclean Scholar.

2.   A brief statement identifying your strengths and how these might be useful to the class and its projects.

3.   A written response to the excerpt from The Uses of Haiti by Paul Farmer (2003), describing your reaction to the conditions he describes and why you would want to address them. Click here to read the excerpt.

Following receipt of your materials (email your application to bwarner3@elon.edu or send to CB 2610), you will be contacted for a personal interview with Dr. Bud Warner, Mentor for the Class of 2015 Periclean Scholars. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Bud Warner at bwarner3@elon.edu.
