NewCentury@Elon Phase II 

Elon graduateThe Elon University community has embarked on Phase II of its long range strategic plan, NewCentury@Elon, which was originally created in 2000. Phase II shares the same overarching goal as Phase I of the plan:

To be a national model of engaged learning, founded upon our traditions of innovation and community.

NewCentury@Elon Phase II has three main objectives. Click on the links below to learn more about the action steps in support of each goal.

Among the major goals of NewCentury@Elon Phase II are the following:

  • Use research and discussions from the Academic Summit to increase academic challenge and enhance learning
  • Complete the Academic Village for the arts and sciences
  • Review and expand programs that will attract and retain a diverse student body, faculty and staff
  • Award innovation and creativity grants to students, faculty and staff to pursue ideas that promote engaged teaching and learning
  • Create additional international study centers similar to Elon's current centers in London and Costa Rica
  • Establish national program sites in several major U.S. cities to create additional student opportunities for internships, service, leadership and research experiences
  • Develop a premier program in Career Services
  • Broaden university efforts to be a responsible corporate citizen in the community
    - Develop an environmental sustainability plan for the Elon campus
    - Expand partnerships with local school systems and community agencies
  • Significantly increase the endowment, providing additional support for scholarships, program support, faculty development and other NewCentury@Elon priorities
