International Applicants: Non–U.S. Citizens

Elon's Office of International Admissions processes applications for the following students:

• Non-U.S. citizens
• Dual Citizens
• U.S. permanent residents (green card holders)
• U.S. citizens in schools anywhere outside the country

A student can obtain an undergraduate admissions application from the Office of International Admissions—or you may apply online or download a copy of the application.

Non–U.S. Citizens applying for undergraduate admission must submit:

• Completed undergraduate application
• Nonrefundable US$50 application fee
• Translated transcripts from all secondary/high school and postsecondary schools attended
• 250-500 word essay
• Counselor Evaluation Form completed by the appropriate secondary/high school official
• Official standardized test scores: either SAT, ACT, TOEFL or IELTS
  
  For students whose native language or language of instruction in secondary/high school is English: SAT I or ACT score is required.
  • Please note that students must submit a writing score as part of their standardized test profile. Either the SAT or ACT writing test will fulfill this requirement.
  • Elon's school code for the SAT is 5183 and for the ACT, it is 3096.
  
  For students whose native language or language of instruction in secondary/high school is not English: TOEFL or IELTS scores must be submitted.
  
  
  • Elon's school code for the TOEFL exam is 5183.
  • Elon University's minimum TOEFL scores are as follows:
    • Internet-based test (iBt): 80
    • Paper-based test: 550
    • Computer-based: 213
  • The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) may be taken in place of the TOEFL test.
    • Elon's minimum score on the IELTS test: 6.5
  • SAT or ACT scores are not required but highly encouraged. Students submitting SAT or ACT scores are eligible for merit-based scholarship consideration.

The following information is not required for the application review process; however, it is required if a student is accepted and plans to enroll at Elon University:

• Photocopy of your passport(s) (required for all applicants from outside the U.S.)
• Completed Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR) form
• Original bank statement or letter from the bank issued with the last 6 months

Please note that this information can be sent in with the application and is not used in the decision process.

Visa Information

Non–U.S. citizens seeking admission to Elon must submit a Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR) when sending a US$500 enrollment deposit. An I-20, necessary to obtain your F-1 visa, will then be issued. Students must schedule an appointment with the consulate in their home country to be considered for a visa. Advanced Credit

Elon offers students college credit for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs on a course-by-course basis, depending on the level, subject and score achieved on the appropriate exam. We also recognize the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the British "A" levels. Additionally, the French Baccalaureate, German Arbitur or Swiss Maturite may also be considered for credit. Advanced standing is not granted until students have been admitted and the official report of exam results is received and evaluated.

Cost

Elon University's cost can be found on the Financial Aid website. Please note that this amount does not include transportation costs, books, other assorted living expenses, and health insurance.

All Elon University students are required to have health insurance. Students may purchase a school-sponsored health insurance plan or may waive this option if they are currently covered by a comparable insurance plan of their own.
