Applying for Financial Aid and Scholarships
Beginning in January 2008, file for
Financial Aid if you are planning to do so.
Elon requires three forms: FAFSA,
www.fafsa.ed.gov,
PROFILE, profileonline.collegeboard.com,
and the Elon Aid Application, www.elon.edu/financialaidapp.
The FAFSA and PROFILE are also available from your high
school guidance office. We give priority to
applications that are complete, in our office and ready for
our review by mid-March. To meet this deadline,
you should complete and submit all applications and
forms no later than mid-February.
Deadline for applications to Fellows Programs and for
Engineering Scholarships: January

Applications and information are available online at www.elon.edu/fellows.
Students selected to compete for these programs will be
invited to Fellows and Scholarship Weekend, March
7-8.
For North
Carolina Students only: Deadline for The Leon and Lorraine

Deadline
for The Susan Scholarship: February 8
The Susan Scholarship is a need based scholarship for
women. Applications and information are available at www.elon.edu/susanscholarship.
Fellows
and Scholarship Weekend: March
7-8
Finalists for the Honors, Elon College, Business, Journalism
and Communications, and Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows
programs and Engineering scholarship candidates attend
seminars and interviews. Program participants and
scholarship winners are selected from among the
finalists.
Opportunities for a Spring Visit
Phoenix Fridays: February 8, February 22, April

An excellent opportunity
for admitted students to spend time with a currently enrolled
student and take a closer look at Elon. You may tour
campus, attend a class, and eat lunch in a dining hall.
Space is limited, so register early by calling the Admissions
Office at 800.334.8448.
Spring Orientation Weekends: March 14-15 and April
18-19
For admitted freshmen who have paid the $500 enrollment
deposit. During the weekend, you will:
- List your preferences for fall semester courses with the help of an academic advisor and take the foreign language placement test.
- Tour residence halls and get answers to your questions about housing.
- Attend a “How to Survive or Not Survive in College” workshop.
- Meet other incoming freshmen.
Parents have their own full schedule of activities, including a popular parents’ version of “How to Survive or Not Survive in College.”
Multicultural Experience Weekend: April
11-12
This weekend is designed for students interested in
the multicultural experience at Elon University. High school
juniors, seniors and their parents will have an opportunity
to learn more about academic programs, student life and
financial aid. A highlight of the weekend will be a
performance by one of our student organizations.
Making your Enrollment Deposit
Early Decision deposit deadline: January
10
Accepted Early Decision students must
submit a non-refundable $500 enrollment deposit and withdraw
applications from all other colleges and universities.
Early Action and Final Deadline deposit deadline: May
1
The $500 freshman enrollment deposit must be paid by this
date in order to guarantee enrollment. After May 1, deposits
are accepted on a space-available basis only.
Refund policy: May 1 is the last day for full refund of
enrollment deposits; $200 is refundable until June 15. After
that date the deposit is not refundable except for medical
emergencies.
Department of Fine Arts Auditions
All students wishing to major in Music, Music Theatre, Theatre Arts or Dance must be accepted to the program through departmental auditions and interviews which are held in February and March. The audition/interview is also used to determine scholarship recipients. No audition is required for a minor in Theatre Arts or Dance. Please contact the Department of Fine Arts for available audition dates and times at 336.278.5600.

Academic Advising: Course selection information will be available in the spring semester. A special academic advising session at Spring Orientation will assist you in course preference selection. If you are unable to attend you will receive this information by mail. The mailing includes instructions for completing the online Course Request forms, which are to be submitted to Academic Advising no later than June 1.
Residence Life: Instructions for the online housing application will be sent to freshmen in early May. The Housing Application must be completed in early June. Housing and roommate assignments are available online in July.
Bursar’s Office: Details regarding 2008-2009 costs and Elon’s convenient 10-month payment plan will be mailed to you in early May. The plan begins in June. For more information now, go to www.tuitionpay.com/elon.
Fall bills are available online in July. Complete information about your account will be emailed to you.
August 1 is the deadline for paying your fall bill to complete registration by mail. Your fall schedule of classes will be available after the bill is paid. For North Carolina residents, North Carolina residency forms must be returned to the Office of the Registrar by this date.
Health Services: N.C. State Law
requires that all students submit proof of adequate
immunization prior to enrollment. The forms must be
completed and returned to the
R. N. Ellington Health Center, 2040 Campus Box, Elon,
NC 27244-2010 by August 1. Printable
forms are online at www.elon.edu/health.
New Student Orientation: A special mailing will be sent in July containing complete information about New Student Orientation. This schedule is updated annually at www.elon.edu/orientation.
