Hunt Softball Park

Location: North Athletics Complex
Fundraising Goal: Completed

Outstanding facilities play a pivotal role in ensuring that Elon can recruit top student-athletes and compete regularly for Colonial Athletic Association and NCAA championships. This quest for athletic excellence is the driving force behind Elon’s new softball stadium in the North Athletics Complex, which is already home to many of the university’s premier sports facilities.

Hunt Softball Park, located opposite baseball’s Walter C. Latham Park, is named in honor of Elon Trustee Vicky Hunt and husband, Sam. It features the following components:

  • State-of-the-art field, including a synthetic turf apron
  • Comfortable grandstand seating
  • Locker rooms
  • Concourse
  • Press box
  • Concessions area
  • Covered batting cage/bullpen area.

Elon’s former facility at East Field was no longer suited to meet the needs of the softball program, which captured a Southern Conference Tournament Championship in 2010. The conference title, the first for an Elon women’s sports team since Elon joined the SoCon in 2003, demonstrates great promise for future success. With Elon's transition to the Colonial Athletic Association on July 1, 2014, this facility will be even more vital to the success of the softball program.

The Elon Commitment strategic plan calls for establishing a national tournament tradition of athletics success. The construction of Hunt Softball Park has helped accomplish this goal and has continued the ongoing development of the North Athletics Complex, which includes Rhodes Stadium, Alumni Field House/Hendrickson Football Center, Koury Field House, Latham Park, Belk Track/White Field, and Rudd Field.
