Location: North Athletics Complex
Fundraising Goal: $1,200,000
Outstanding facilities play a pivotal role in ensuring that Elon can recruit top student-athletes and compete regularly for Southern Conference and NCAA championships. This quest for athletic excellence is the driving force behind Elon’s plans to build a new softball stadium in the North Athletics Complex, already home to many of the university’s premier sports facilities.
Hunt Softball Park, to be located opposite baseball’s Walter C. Latham Park, will be completed in three phases and feature the following:
Elon’s current facility at East Field can no longer meet the needs of the softball program, which captured its first Southern Conference Tournament Championship in 2010. The conference title, the first for an Elon women’s sports team since Elon joined the SoCon in 2003, demonstrates great promise for future success.
The Elon Commitment strategic plan calls for establishing a national tournament tradition of athletics success. Building Hunt Softball Park will help accomplish this goal and continue the ongoing development of the North Athletics Complex, which includes Rhodes Stadium, Alumni Field House/Hendrickson Football Center, Koury Field House, Latham Park, Belk Track/White Field, and Rudd Field.
