Performing Arts Expansion

Elon’s Department of Performing Arts is one of the university’s bright lights and is quickly gaining a national reputation for excellence. Elon’s Music Theatre graduates regularly appear in Broadway productions and on hit television shows such as “Glee” and “CSI: Miami.” Elon seeks expanded space for Performing Arts, which includes Acting, Dance, Music Theatre, Theatre Studies, and Theatrical Design and Production.

The nearly 13,000-square-foot expansion in the Francis Center will complement the department’s current home in the Center for the Arts, which includes the 575-seat McCrary Theatre, 125-seat Yeager Recital Hall, 100-seat Black Box Theatre and three dance studios.

The expansion will include the following amenities:

  • Dedicated rehearsal space for theatrical productions
  • Expanded Black Box Theatre with seating for 206
  • New dance studio for rehearsals
  • Eight music practice rooms
  • Separate entrance for convenient access

Naming Opportunities:

  • Center Name: $750,000
  • Black Box Theatre: $250,000
  • Dance Studio: $150,000
  • Rehearsal Space: $150,000
  • Practice Rooms (8 at $25,000 each): $200,000
  • Total: $1,500,000
