The BCS kicked off the 2011-12 year with several events including the Unity Cookout, annual Spooky Woods trip, Beloved Community Freedom Journey in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and the annual Upholding the Legacy program. To observe Black History Month, BCS hosted a program called "Family Feud: Do you know your history?" The trivia program highlighted the accomplishments of black Americans. We also have a scholarship application open for our Miss & Mr. BCS pageant. The recipients will each receive a $250 grant that will be announced at the Black Excellence Awards in April. Finally, in lieu of the annual fashion show, BCS is hosting a talent showcase including Twisted Measure, Elon's Finest and others on April 28.
The Boyd Book Club (BBC) is in its final pilot month before the summer launch in June.
