Hellos and Goodbyes

This is an exciting time of welcomes and farewells on campus. At the university, we bid a sad farewell this spring to Leo Lambert after 19 years as president, then we celebrated the arrival of Connie Ledoux Book as Elon’s ninth president. In the School of Communications, I am concluding 17 years as dean at the end of May, and Elon has named Rochelle Ford of Syracuse as the next dean. Among the faculty, Professor Gerald Gibson is retiring after 36 years at Elon, and the school keeps attracting outstanding new faculty. And in a few weeks, we will proudly watch the senior class receive diplomas, knowing that a new first-year class will arrive in August. It’s the cycle of life in academic terms. Thanks for being such great alumni!
