From the dean

The School of Health Sciences is growing. Since July, we have welcomed five new full-time faculty and two new staff members to total 22 full-time faculty and 5 1/2 full time equivalent staff. For those who remember Lynne Wentz, she now serves as the administrative assistant for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies.

We continue to enjoy our new facility, the Gerald L. Francis Center. Please accept my personal invitation to visit in the near future.

Several faculty and students received word that their reserarch has been accepted to the January 2013 APTA Combined Sections national conference in San Diego, Calif. Four student/faculty teams have been invited to present. Read more ...

In addition, the department welcomes Srikant Vallabhajosula to the faculty. He recently presented work at the American Society of Biomechanics Annual Conference in Gainesville, Fla.

Twin Lakes endows scholarship

The Twin Lakes Community of Burlington, N.C., has made a $100,000 charitable gift to the School of Health Sciences, endowing the school's largest scholarship. The Twin Lakes Community Endowed Scholarship will support students in the DPT and PA programs. Read more ...

PA faculty, staff prepare
for charter class

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is finalizing plans for the January arrival of its inaugural class of students. In addition to planning the teaching and clinical curriculum, the department has submitted a prospectus to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) for accreditation of the new Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree to be awarded by Elon.

In September, the program received provisional accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Read more ...
