Tailgating FAQ
Are only recognized student groups allowed to
tailgate? No. Groups can include organizations,
classes, Elon 101 groups, residence halls, sports teams
or just a group of friends!
Can Greek organizations tailgate in their Loy
Center houses?
Tailgating is not permitted in the Loy Center, as per
the Office of Greek Life.
What is the alcohol policy?
Alcohol (beer and wine) will be allowed in the
tailgating area. No common containers (keg, party
balls, wine casks, etc.) will be allowed. Groups are
responsible for making sure that only those 21 years
old and older consume alcohol. Groups are also
personally responsible for making sure that their
guests act appropriately. Inappropriate behavior by a
guest may result in that person being removed (and
facing campus and legal charges) and the group's
tailgating privileges being suspended. All beverages,
including alcohol, must be in opaque cups.
What are the other risk management
responsibilities?
Groups who tailgate must also:
-
Provide food for their group
-
Provide plenty of non-alcoholic beverages
-
Clean up their area
-
Make sure that a least one of their members does not
consume any alcohol and can assist individuals who
may exceed a low-risk drinking limit
-
No group or individual is permitted to participate in
"drinking games" (i.e. beer pong, flip cup,
etc…)
-
Educate their members about the tailgating policies!
How much will it cost to participate in
tailgating?
Student group tailgating in the Harper Lot is $15 per group.
