Trustees, campus community launch Ever Elon Campaign
In October 2008, the Elon community gathered to launch the public phase of Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University. President Leo M. Lambert presented the campaign, with its goal of raising $100 million for the university’s endowment and other critical needs, at a town hall meeting on Saturday, Oct. 11. Ever Elon seeks $70 million toward the university's endowment to increase access and opportunity for students of all backgrounds, support excellent teaching and scholarship among the faculty, and enhance engaged learning opportunities such as study abroad and undergraduate research. It also seeks to raise $20 million in annual and planned giving, and it seeks $10 million to preserve and build Elon’s beautiful campus. As of May 15, 2009, gifts and pledges from Elon’s students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends helped push Ever Elon past the $63 million mark.
Regional kickoffs help campaign gain momentum
After the campaign launch in October, Ever Elon hit the road with regional kickoff events in Boston, Washington, D.C., and New York. Alumni, parents and friends of the university joined President Lambert as he presented Ever Elon’s goals and answered questions about the campaign. More kickoff events are planned for other cities in the coming year. Guests of the kickoff events viewed the Ever Elon Campaign video and gave interviews about their Elon experiences that were posted on the Ever Elon Web site, www.everelon.org.
