Scholars, journalists and leaders stimulate campus discussion

Prominent individuals from various aspects of American life visited campus during the 2008-09 academic year to share their unique perspectives on local, national and international events.

Pultizer Prize-winning author and historian David McCollough returned to campus for the first time since 2001 to deliver the keynote address at Fall Convocation in October. Former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright addressed America’s foreign relations challenges at A Convocation for Honors in March. CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, spoke at Elon University School of Law as part of the Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Lecture Series. Another CNN personality, news anchor Anderson Cooper, visited campus in April and shared global insights from his career in journalism.
