Bacot serves as director of the Elon University Poll and oversees all aspects of the poll, from instrument design to data analysis. His research interests include North Carolina politics and policy, urban politics and environmental policy. A native North Carolinian, Bacot received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master’s of public administration degree from UNC-Charlotte and a doctorate in political science from the University of Tennessee. He has taught at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Valdosta State University (Georgia) and the University of Louisiana, Lafayette.

Bacot is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, the Policy Studies Organization, the Southern Political Science Association and the North Carolina Political Science Association. 


  Mileah Kay Kromer

Kromer is the assistant director of the Elon University Poll and assists the director with instrument design, survey development, interviewer training and data analysis. Her research interests include state legislative behavior, gender in American politics and state public opinion. Kromer received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s and doctorate degree in political science from Louisiana State University. She has taught at Louisiana State University and was the operations manager of LSU's Public Policy Research Lab.
