Travel Funds
- Funding Group: Deans of business, communications, education and Elon College
- Eligible to apply: Full-time permanent faculty (see Faculty Handbook, Section II-7). May apply to limited term and visiting faculty.
- Scope of funding: Reimbursement of expenses related to professional activities (conferences).
- Amount of (or range of) grants in 2006-07: Consult dean
- Deadlines and decision dates: Travel requests should be submitted to and approved by department chair and by the dean’s office before any arrangements are made. Check with dean’s office for dates.

- Note: To request travel reimbursement, fill out the Travel Reimbursement Request, attach all receipts, and forward to the deans’ office within three weeks of completion of travel. Cash advances for travel may be available.
Professional Development Funds
- Funding Group: Deans of business, communications, education and Elon College
- Eligible to apply: Full-time faculty
- Scope of funding: Limited funds are available to support faculty development beyond the annual travel allocation. Funding is to provide additional resources for specific faculty development needs; need should be based on Professional Development Plan
- Amount of (or range of) grants: Funding is awarded at the discretion of the dean.
- Deadlines and decision dates: Throughout year but no later than April 1. Request should be made to dean’s office, preferably after conversation with department chair

Faculty Research & Development: Research, Development, or Advanced Study
- Funding Group: Faculty Research and Development Committee
- Eligible to apply: Full-Time Faculty
- Scope of funding: Faculty are encouraged to apply for funding in this category to conduct research, work on a publication, pursue professional development, work toward the completion of a dissertation, or engage in additional study or course work at another graduate institution. Note: These funds may be requested in addition to other FR&D funding requests.
- Amount of (or range of) grants in 2008-09: $400 to $3,000
- Deadlines and decision dates: Nov. 1 application deadline. Proposal must have chair and dean approval prior to the application deadline. Decisions are announced by the end of fall semester.

Faculty Research & Development Hultquist Funds

- Eligible to apply: Full-Time First-Year Faculty
- Scope of funding: Awards are given to support first-year faculty development. Monies may be requested as a stipend to be included in summer paychecks or as cash reimbursement for supplies and expenses related to research, scholarship, writing, course development or course release.

- Deadlines and decision dates: Nov. 1 application deadline. Proposal must have chair and dean approval prior to the application deadline. Decisions are announced by the end of fall semester.

Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning Faculty Travel Funds
- Funding Group: Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
- Eligible to apply: Faculty
- Scope of funding: The CATL faculty travel grant program supports faculty involvement with the scholarship of teaching and learning, and connects faculty with highly innovative programs in teaching and learning. This program is intended to supplement faculty travel support from other parts of the university, making it possible for more faculty to participate in national and international initiatives on teaching and learning.
- Amount of grants: Approximately $25,000 awarded annually

Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning Grants
- Funding Group: Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
- Eligible to apply: Faculty
- Scope of funding: The CATL Teaching and Learning Grants program supports innovative teaching and learning projects. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, although smaller and larger proposals will be considered. Grants generally support start-up and one-time expenses (materials, stipends, and so on), rather than paying for ongoing operational costs. These grants will not fund a course release, but can be used for summer stipends. In addition, applications for small (typically less than $750) grants will be accepted and reviewed on an ad hoc basis throughout the year; for more information on small Teaching and Learning Grants, contact the director of CATL.
- Amount of grants: Approximately $40,000 awarded annually
- Deadlines and decision dates: Applications are due each year on the second Monday of October and the second Monday of March; decisions will be announced approximately two weeks after the application date.

Center for Advancement of Teaching and Learning Scholars Program
- Funding Group: Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
- Eligible to apply: Faculty
- Scope of funding: Each CATL Scholar is awarded a two-year fellowship. CATL Scholar compensation per year is a two course teaching reduction and a $2000 faculty development fund to be used to pay for expenses relating to the CATL Scholar’s project.

Academic Technology and Computing Committee (ATACC) Software Grants
- Funding Group: Academic Technology and Computing Committee
- Eligible to apply: Faculty
- Scope of funding: Funds to purchase software for use in specific academic fields. Purpose is to provide seed money to investigate the qualities and applications of special programs with the potential for broader integration into the teaching/learning process.
- Amount of (or range of) grants in 2008-09: $100-$4,800
- Deadlines and decision dates: No set dates. Requests must be applied for, approved, ordered and received by April 1.
