Family Law Society


2011-12 FLS Officers

The purpose of the Family Law Society (FLS) is to give members a practical understanding of family law problems and solutions through interaction with family law professionals; to provide a forum for the discussion of family law issues; and to disseminate information to students about opportunities in the field.  Issues in Family Law include marriage and divorce, child custody, adoption, paternity, domestic violence, child abuse, foster care, juvenile justice, etc.

Some of our events throughout the school year include:

  • Young Attorney's Panel and Social
  • Judges Panel and Networking Event
  • Movie Nights
  • Networking Lunches featuring
  • Attorneys from the Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina
  • Mediator
  • Private Investigator
  • Social Worker

In addition, FLS provides Continuing Legal Education opportunities in which interested students have the opportunity to attend (free of charge). FLS also holds fundraising events and provides volunteer opportunities throughout the school year benefiting Family Services of the Piedmont, the Children's Home Society, and the Battered Women's Shelter.
