Tax Law Interest Group

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Tax Law Interest Group is to organize the Elon University School of Law student body's efforts to organize and operate an annual IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparation program (or similar service oriented tax preparation initiative) to benefit community members who could not otherwise afford competent professional tax preparation.

In doing so, this organization will provide experience and basic tax preparation training for students interested in tax law.  The tax Law Interest Group will host annual trainings in tax preparation which will be open to the entire law school.  Any Elon University School of Law student will be able to volunteer to prepare taxes during the community service tax preparation program; it is not required that student volunteers be members of the Tax Law Interest Group organization to participate.
