Ann Bullock - Dean of the School of Education and Professor of Education

Ann has served as chairperson of East Carolina University’s Department of Elementary and Middle Grades Education for the past two years.  Her research focused on developing teacher portfolios, conducting assessments of student learning and classroom environments, and preparing teachers for middle grades education, among other topics. She serves on the Teach for America Advisory Board in Durham, North Carolina, and as a member of the edTPA National Academy through Stanford University.  She holds an undergraduate degree in early childhood and intermediate education from Appalachian State University, a master’s degree from New Mexico State University, and a doctorate in urban services leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Lesley Henry – Director of Education Outreach and Instructor of Education

  • Joins us from teaching at Alamance-Burlington School System where she served as a K-5 Interventionist and Multi-Tier System of Support Coach.

Jennifer Kimbrough – Assistant Professor, Health and Human Performance

  • B.S., Indiana University, Bloomington; M.Ed. and Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Greensboro
  • Joins us from teaching at UNCG, Department of Public Health Education and formerly the Executive Director of Partners for Healthy Youth
  • Scholarly interests: Health Literacy, Adolescent Health and Health Disparities

Portia Wade – Lecturer of Education

  • B.A., Elon University; M.Ed., Elon University
  • Previously served as an adjunct for the department of education. Has also served as an Early Childhood Instructor  at Alamance Community College, and as an Educational Consultant for Head Start

  • Serves as Program Specialist for Exceptional Children for the Alamance-Burlington School System
