Designed for all employees, these programs are offered in response to staff and department needs. Employees are encouraged and sometimes required to attend workshops to meet certification requirements. Several of these programs will provide support for the development of supervisory and leadership skills and be offered on a one-time or ongoing basis.
Crucial Conversations is a model for making conflict work FOR instead of against us, as individuals and as institutions. We will learn to use the model when the stakes and emotions are high and when there are opposing opinions. Whether in a business setting or a family, these skills can help us communicate better instead of shutting down or lashing out. Jan Fuller, University Chaplain, is also a trainer for Crucial Conversations. The training is deep and extensive and requires a commitment of 16 contact hours (but no homework!)
The training will be divided into four Modules. Participants are invited to select the timing of Modules I, II, III, and IV that suit their schedules. You must have all four modules to complete the training, and they should be done in order.
