CEAC is for staff and faculty who lead, coordinate, and facilitate community engagement activities.
All workshops should contribute to helping participants deepen their understanding and/or practice of community engagement.  Access the main conference page here


Proposals are sought for presentations that explore best practices in planning, implementing, and sustaining effective alternative break service experiences. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Pre-trip orientation/preparation and post-trip re-entry/transition
  • Building sustainable/reciprocal community partnerships
  • Student leadership models and training/development processes
  • Reflection tools & tips
  • Co-curricular models
  • Academic/credit-based models
  • Assessment
  • Research and Theory
  • Equity and Inclusion

Proposal notifications: May 5, 2017

Please Note: CEAC presenters must also register and pay the conference fee of $75.

Presentation Format

We seek to make CEAC an interactive day filled with deep inquiry and learning. We challenge you to embed community building methods and facilitation into your presentations and workshops. All presenters are encouraged to choose a presentation style (e.g. lecture, hands-on activities, panels, roundtables) that ensures clear delivery of the information, allows time for questions and answers, and provides participants with materials to take away from the session.  Workshop sessions should be planned for 1 hour.

  • Presentation title (10-word maximum)
  • Abstract for conference program (60-word maximum)
  • Presentation description (300-word maximum)
  • Intended audience: novice, advanced, all
  • Technology needs
  • Primary presenter contact information*
  • Contact information for up to two co-presenters*

*For each presenter you list you must include:
First Name Last Name, Degree, Title, Department, Institution/Organization, email
Ex: Maggie Jones, Ph.D., Assistant Director, Center for Service, North State University,
Ex: Bruce Wayne, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Mathematics, Carolina College,
